Chrome Extension Issues
Troubleshoot installation, permissions, and usage issues with the Transcribe Health Chrome extension.
The Transcribe Health Chrome extension lets you record, transcribe, and push notes directly from inside your EHR. Here's how to fix common issues.
Extension not appearing after install
Restart Chrome - after installing, close all Chrome windows completely and reopen. The extension may need a full restart to load.
Check the extensions menu - click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome's toolbar (top right). Find Transcribe Health in the list and click the pin icon to keep it visible in your toolbar.
Check if it's enabled - go to chrome://extensions/ and make sure Transcribe Health is toggled on (the switch should be blue).
Check Chrome version - the extension requires Chrome 100 or later. Go to chrome://settings/help to check your version and update if needed.
Extension won't sign in
Already signed in on the website? - the extension uses the same session as the Transcribe Health website. Try signing in at transcribe.health first, then open the extension.
Cookies blocked - if you have strict cookie settings or use a privacy extension (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger), it may block the extension's authentication. Add transcribe.health to your allowed sites list.
Incognito mode - extensions don't work in incognito mode by default. If you need to use the extension in incognito, go to chrome://extensions/, click "Details" on Transcribe Health, and enable "Allow in Incognito."
Extension not detecting your EHR
Supported EHRs - the extension currently detects OSCAR EMR. Support for additional EHRs is coming soon.
Check the URL - the extension detects OSCAR based on the page URL pattern. If your OSCAR instance uses a non-standard URL structure, the extension may not recognize it. Contact support with your OSCAR URL and we can add it.
Page needs to be fully loaded - wait for the OSCAR page to fully load before the extension overlay appears. If the page is still loading, the extension can't inject.
Recording doesn't start from the extension
Microphone permissions - the extension needs microphone access just like the website. Chrome will prompt you to allow it. See Fix Microphone Permissions for detailed steps.
Another recording is active - you can only have one active recording at a time. If you started a recording on the website, stop it before starting one from the extension.
Push to chart not working
Not connected to OSCAR - the push feature requires an active OSCAR connection. Go to Settings > EHR Integrations on the Transcribe Health website to set up the connection.
Patient not linked - the patient in your current session must be linked to an OSCAR patient record. The extension will prompt you to link them if they're not.

Uninstall and reinstall
If nothing else works, try a clean reinstall:
- Go to
chrome://extensions/ - Find Transcribe Health and click Remove
- Restart Chrome
- Reinstall from the Chrome Web Store
- Sign in again
If issues persist, contact support with your Chrome version and a description of the problem.
