Pre-visit Patient Summary

Review an AI-generated summary of a patient's recent visits before your next appointment.

When a patient is linked to a transcription session, Transcribe Health automatically generates a brief AI summary of their recent visits. This helps clinicians quickly review context before an appointment without digging through previous notes.

How it works

The pre-visit summary appears automatically at the top of the session view when:

  1. A patient is linked to the session (via the patient selector)
  2. The patient has at least one prior completed session in Transcribe Health

The AI analyzes the patient's last few completed sessions and produces a concise bullet-point summary highlighting key clinical details.

What you'll see

Patient with prior visits

A blue banner appears with:

  • "Pre-Visit Summary" header
  • The number of prior visits used to generate the summary (e.g., "Based on 3 prior visits")
  • The date of the last visit
  • Bullet-point summary of key information from those visits

You can collapse the summary by clicking the header, or dismiss it entirely with the X button. Dismissing is per-session — the summary reappears when you open a different session.

New patient (no prior visits)

A muted banner shows "No prior visits in Transcribe Health". This confirms the patient exists but has no session history to summarize. You can dismiss this notice with the X button.

Tips

  • The summary is generated once and cached, so it loads quickly on subsequent views
  • The current session is excluded from the summary — it only reflects past visits
  • If you dismiss the summary and want it back, navigate away from the session and return
  • Link patients to sessions consistently to build up the visit history that powers these summaries
